About

Hi, I’m Yuna. I’m a therapist with over 7 years experience focusing on anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I also know what it’s like to be stuck on the other side of Psychology Today or in contemplation of the wealth of articles and resources regarding mental health. As you may be doing right now, I looked at profile after profile, wondering Will this person get me? Will this work?

Transformations that happen in the not-so-simple journey of a therapeutic connection withstand the test of time. It is important to me that after working with me you can be, essentially, your own therapist. During this time of crisis, logotherapy and narrative therapy have provided grounding, while behavioral approaches such as CBT, REBT, and DBT have been helpful to support growth. I will take you through a range of options to find one that works for you.

Part of my work is academic and rooted in the “expertise” of a Columbia education and a Master’s from New York University. The transformation in these interactions, however, is built on my approach as a self care collaborator. Related to this, I aim to create deeper connections and bridges between notions of helper and helped, the privileged and oppressed, and the many ways our understandings of ourselves and others has become increasingly polarized. I provide therapy with sensitivity towards the ways these experiences impact identity and our emotional and mental health. Five years’ experience as a clinician at Rikers Island has also equipped me to hope and believe in my clients’ abilities to rise above their challenges and whatever crises they face. I also hope this is reflected in my story of working with you.

You are the expert of your own story, and I am a mirror and conduit through which we can tailor approaches that fit your needs, your dreams, the timing, and the transitions you are in. You can read further about my professional background here, and connect with me for a free 30 minute initial consultation here.
